About Mary

Mary McCarthy is an accomplished dressmaker whose passion for sewing spans many years. As a sewing educator, she has a wealth of knowledge to share about the art and skill of sewing and fitting beautiful garments. She teaches all levels, from beginner to advanced couture, in a variety of settings that include full-day workshops, weekly classes, and individual lessons.

A custom clothier and designer since 1991, Mary has developed sewing and fitting techniques that inspire and educate her students at all levels. Mary has a B.S. in Clothing and Textiles and an M.B.A.. She recently completed her eighth year as an adjunct professor of clothing construction at Sanford-Brown College in Orlando, Florida. She also teaches the Trained Sewing Instructor Program for the Sewing and Craft Alliance. She has authored three books on sewing techniques and her work has been featured in Threads, Sew News, and on Pattern Review.
